Witness was a great movie! Both Harrison Ford and Kelly McGillis were awesome! The great cast includes Harrison Ford, Kelly McGillis, Josef Sommer, Lukas Haas, Jan Rubes.
If you love watching Harrison Ford or Kelly McGillis, you are deffinetly going to want to watch Witness
When Samuel (Lukas Haas), a young Amish boy traveling with his mother Rachel (Kelly McGillis), witnesses the murder of a police officer in a public restroom, he and his mother become the temporary wards of John Book (Harrison Ford), a detective who’s been assigned to solve the crime. After suspect lineups and mug-shot books yield nothing, Samuel, in the most memorable scene of the film, recognizes the murderer as a narcotics agent whose picture he sees in the precinct. Once Book realizes that the police chief is in on it, too, he whisks Samuel and Rachel back home to Amish country, where he himself goes into hiding as a plain Amish man. The juxtaposition between the life of the Amish and the violence of inner-city police corruption work surprisingly well for the story, and Kelly McGillis as the falling in love widow gives an almost perfect performance. Directed by Peter Weir, the film is extremely successful in drawing the viewer into its world and, accordingly, is immensely entertaining. The only thing that mars its polish is the one-dimensional, almost cartoonish handling of the upper-echelon police corruption–a subtler, more realistic treatment of this aspect of the story would have rendered the film near perfect. –James McGrath

Avenue Montaigne was a great movie! Both Cécile De France and Valérie Lemercier were awesome! The great cast includes Cécile De France, Valérie Lemercier, Albert Dupontel, Laura Morante, Claude Brasseur.
If you love watching Cécile De France or Valérie Lemercier, you are deffinetly going to want to watch Avenue Montaigne
French for “Orchestra Seats,” Avenue Montaigne offers an outsider’s perspective on an insular world (the original title is Fauteuils d’Orchestre). After bidding adieu to her grandmother (Suzanne Flon in her final performance), sunny Jessica (Cécile De France, L’Auberge Espagnole) moves from Mâcon to Paris. Upon securing a job as a waitress in a popular café, she meets high-strung soap star Catherine (Valérie Lemercier), burnt-out pianist Jean-François (Albert Dupontel), and secretive art collector Jacques (Claude Brasseur), who comes equipped with a pretty girlfriend and a handsome son (Christopher Thompson). Though the tousled Jessica has little in common with these posh Parisians, she affects each of their lives in ways both big and small. Directed by Danièle Thompson (La Bûche) and co-written with her son, Christopher, Avenue Montaigne serves as the flipside to French phenomenon When the Cat’s Away, in which a young woman meets the people in her neighborhood while searching for an errant feline. In this case, the surroundings are more upscale, but the residents are just as susceptible to fear and insecurity. Though the idea of a sympathetic look at the upper class will surely strike some as off-putting, Thompson makes it work. The genuine affection she feels for her characters–privileged and underprivileged alike–and the grace with which she keeps several plot strands going at once proves that the spirit of Robert Altman lives on in the most unlikely of places. –Kathleen C. Fennessy

Myra Breckinridge was a great movie! Both Jim Backus and Roger C. Carmel were awesome! The great cast includes Jim Backus, Roger C. Carmel, John Carradine, Andy Devine, Farrah Fawcett.
If you love watching Jim Backus or Roger C. Carmel, you are deffinetly going to want to watch Myra Breckinridge
We can safely call it one of the most notorious films in Hollywood history: Myra Breckenridge, the wild, tasteless, legendary disaster. Sprung from a novel by Gore Vidal, Myra tells the tender tale of a man (damply played by film critic Rex Reed) who has a sex-change operation and goes to Hollywood as a woman–played by Raquel Welch. Mae West creaked out of retirement to play a man-hungry agent (one of her meals is young Tom Selleck), and John Huston is an aging cowboy star, Myra’s nemesis. To say the movie endorses the destruction of sex roles in modern society would be giving the rampant incoherence too much credit. Old film clips, plus footage (all too apt!) of atomic bomb tests are spliced into the action, to puerile effect. Almost everybody involved with the film disowned it, especially a horrified Vidal. Is there a cult for this movie? They can have it. –Robert Horton

Catch Me If You Can was a great movie! Both Frank Abagnale Jr. and Jim Antonio were awesome! The great cast includes Frank Abagnale Jr., Jim Antonio, Candice Azzara, Nathalie Baye, James Brolin.
If you love watching Frank Abagnale Jr. or Jim Antonio, you are deffinetly going to want to watch Catch Me If You Can
An enormously entertaining (if somewhat shallow) affair from blockbuster director Steven Spielberg. Leonardo DiCaprio stars as Frank Abagnale, Jr., a dazzling young con man who spent four years impersonating an airline pilot, a doctor, and a lawyer–all before he turned 21. All the while he’s pursued by a dedicated FBI agent named Carl Hanratty (Tom Hanks), whose dogged determination stays one step behind Abagnale’s spontaneous wits. Both DiCaprio and Hanks turn in enjoyable performances and the movie has a bouncy rhythm that keeps it zipping along. However, it never gets under the surface of Frank’s drive to lose himself in other identities, other than a simplistic desire to please his father (Christopher Walken, excellent as always), nor does it explore the complex mechanics of fraud with any depth. By the movie’s end, it feels like one of Frank’s pilot uniforms–appearance without substance. –Bret Fetzer

Yakuza Graveyard was a great movie! Both Tetsuya Watari and Meiko Kaji were awesome! The great cast includes Tetsuya Watari, Meiko Kaji, Tatsuo Umemiya, Seizo Fukumoto, Takuzo Kawatani.
If you love watching Tetsuya Watari or Meiko Kaji, you are deffinetly going to want to watch Yakuza Graveyard
Following Cops Vs. Thugs by a year, Kinji Fukasaku’s Yakuza Graveyard is even more violent and colorful, featuring several scenes that Quentin Tarantino obviously borrowed from for Kill Bill. With a similar nearly-humorous soap opera-like plot, Tarantino also adopted filmic storytelling devices used in this film, namely the freeze-frames on characters during plot summaries, and the switch to black-and-white during scenes that occurred in the past. Opening with a scene in which Nishida gang members beat up casino guests, shoot a man in a baseball stadium, then get severely abused by cops, Yakuza Graveyard continues at a ferocious pace, as the Nishida and Yamashiro families fight to take over the city. Police are inept, minus Kido Kuroiwa (Tetsuya Watari), a Dirty Harry-like detective who falls in love with Nishida member, Mrs. Keiko (Meijo Kaji). Kuroiwa swears brotherhood with Nishida Boss Iwata (Seizo Fukumoto), allowing him to be with Keiko, but ruining his career as a cop. As Kuroiwa’s rough bravado blurs the line between the lawmakers and the lawbreakers, the cops and the yakuza start to look equally corrupt. With his trademark use of the handheld camera during battle scenes, Fukasaku’s shots in Yakuza Graveyard are woozier, often capturing sex and violence completely sideways on the screen. Every character seems to be carrying a bottle of whisky, giving the film itself a drunk and disorderly quality. Crime doesn’t pay though it certainly looks good on a screen. –Trinie Dalton
